A useful fit for

A corded in-ground option rated to 50 ft that lists floor, wall and waterline cleaning, MyDolphin Plus, a weekly timer, delay and an anti-tangling swivel.

The main tradeoff

The caddy/stand entry is blank, so package inclusion is unknown. The exact E40 manual selector returned no guide, and the formal pool classification is in-ground only.

This assessment covers the U.S. Dolphin Explorer E40, Product No. 99991083-XPI. The exact Maytronics page lists a 50 ft maximum, floor/wall/waterline coverage, an in-ground pool classification and MyDolphin Plus. The most useful case is therefore an in-ground pool within the stated limit where a corded cleaner with all three named surfaces and app functions is the desired configuration. It should not be mistaken for the E50 or E70 simply because the same-page comparison groups them together.

Three-surface coverage and the in-ground boundary

The E40 page specifies a 2.5-hour default cycle and durations of 1.5 and 2.5 hours. It lists floor, walls and waterline, rectangular/round/free-shape/kidney shapes, and “In Ground” as the pool classification. There is no separate statement of step or sun-ledge coverage. These published fields can help screen a pool length and coverage preference, but they do not describe every basin depth, surface finish, transition or obstacle. Do not transfer the E50’s above-ground classification to this E40.

The product page marks the machine non-cordless, lists Wi-Fi connectivity and names MyDolphin Plus. It also lists a weekly timer, delay feature, automation mode and anti-tangling swivel. The page does not establish live underwater steering or every connection limit. Its User Manual selector for 99991083-XPI currently returns “No products were found,” leaving setup, cable placement, water conditions, surfaces and detailed app behavior unresolved. The exact page-linked picture shows a tether, but the unavailable manual remains the source to obtain for use.

Filter and handling claims

Maytronics identifies a top-access Fine Filter Kit, a full-filter indicator field marked No and three brushes with Standard and Combine types. Its comparison table lists no additional Ultra-Fine Filter Kit for the E40. Fine is a type label, not a stated micron measurement. If an extra filtration stage is a requirement, the E70 comparison row explicitly names one; the E40’s cell does not. Check the exact package rather than assuming that shared coverage means shared contents.

The page lists the robot at 24.63 lb and reports a 4,500 GPH suction rate. The latter is a manufacturer specification, not a measurement from this review or a guarantee of cleaning outcome. The page also gives package and body dimensions, but not enough to settle the box contents. The comparison table’s “Caddy or Stand Included” row is not unambiguously assigned to the E40; this assessment does not treat it as a confirmed caddy inclusion. Ask for a written package list if storage and transport gear matter.

A refurbished E40 has its own terms

Maytronics also lists Dolphin Refurbished Explorer E40, Product No. 88881083-XPI. That exact outlet page repeats the 50 ft limit, three-surface coverage, in-ground classification, 2.5-hour default, 1.5/2.5-hour durations, MyDolphin Plus, Fine Filter Kit and brush listing. It states a one-year warranty instead of the new E40 page’s three years and publishes a 56 ft cable length that the new product page does not state. The two official images have the same bytes, but that does not erase the SKU, condition, warranty or cable record. Confirm the exact outlet terms and cable contents; do not transfer either product’s cable length to the other.

Where the E40 sits in the Explorer comparison

The E50 shares the 50 ft floor/wall/waterline headline but its page lists both in-ground and above-ground classifications, MyDolphin Plus and a Multi-Layer filter label. It differs in its two-year stated warranty, two brushes and cycle set of 1.5, 2 and 2.5 hours. The E70 has a 50 ft rating and the same broad coverage, but its exact page formalizes in-ground only and lists a caddy and Ultra-Fine Filter Kit. Those are package and configuration distinctions, not evidence that one model cleans better. The E25 sits below this coverage level at 40 ft, floor-and-walls only, although its exact product page also names MyDolphin Plus.

Keep the E40 in consideration when in-ground status, a pool no longer than 50 ft, waterline coverage and the listed app functions align. Look elsewhere if the pool is above-ground, a battery arrangement or a listed Ultra-Fine kit is essential, or you need manual-backed depth, chemistry and surface limits. Verify Product No. 99991083-XPI, the exact U.S. manual, power-supply and cord details, the kit and any caddy, warranty, returns and pool profile. The product photo is for identification; no pool test, measured cleaning result, ownership or customer experience was obtained. Price and seller availability are not asserted.
