Dolphin Refurbished Explorer E20 review

This separate assessment covers the U.S. Dolphin Refurbished Explorer E20, Product No. 88886148-XPB. It shares a family name and several coverage fields with the new E20, but it is not the same record as Product No. 99996115-XP. The factory outlet page lists a one-year warranty, a 50 ft cable and a different in-ground-only classification; its image also shows a visibly different E20 shell from the new E20’s 2026 product image. Treat the outlet SKU as its own configuration and verify it by number.

What the outlet E20 page specifies

The refurbished page lists a 33 ft maximum pool length, floor-and-wall coverage and a two-hour default cycle. It names a Fine Filter Kit with top access, one Standard Brush, a no-app mobile-application field, no weekly timer and no delay feature. It does not list waterline scrubbing. The pool classification for this exact refurbished SKU is “In Ground”; the broader “In ground and Above Ground” field shown on the new E20 page must not be carried over.

Maytronics reports a robot weight of 14.597 lb, a 50 ft cable and a 4,000 GPH suction-rate field. The E20 model page lists the GPH number as a specification, not a measurement, and no test here establishes debris pickup. The refurbished page’s “Automation Mode: Yes” field sits beside “Mobile Application: No” and no listed weekly timer or delay. With no accompanying description of what “automation” means, this assessment does not translate that entry into app control, scheduling or autonomous behavior.

The exact manual bridge remains weak

The exact refurbished product page links to a Maytronics manual selector, but a direct current request using Product No. 88886148-XPB returned no product. A separate Maytronics portal view previously displayed “Refurbished Explorer E20 User Manual” and linked an official PDF titled “Robotic Pool Cleaner Mass 11.” The PDF title itself does not identify the E20 or the refurbished number. Because the product-specific bridge is inconsistent, the PDF’s depth, chemistry and electrical limits are not applied to this outlet configuration. Ask Maytronics or the seller for current instructions tied to the serial and exact package.

New E20 is similar in some fields, different in others

The new E20 page for 99996115-XP also lists floor-and-wall cleaning to 33 ft, a two-hour cycle, no app and a Fine Filter Kit. It lists a two-year warranty, a 14.796 lb weight and both in-ground and above-ground pool classifications; it does not state a cable length. The refurb page instead gives one year, 14.597 lb, an explicit 50 ft cable and in-ground only. Separate page imagery is also distinct. Those differences may matter for warranty, reach, lifting or pool type, and are not details to merge into a single unqualified spec card.

The exact outlet page presents a standard product image and describes a refurbished E20, but the photograph does not document cosmetic condition or prove what is packed in a particular box. Check that the delivered unit, supply, filter, manual and serial match the offer, and read the actual return and warranty terms. The product page’s availability can change; no current stock or price is claimed in this review.

Fit and checks before deciding

This configuration belongs on a shortlist only when an in-ground pool within 33 ft needs floor and wall cleaning, while no app, timer or waterline mode is essential. It is not a documented fit for an above-ground pool under the refurbished page’s classification, and its 33 ft rating is not a blanket promise for every pool profile. If waterline, app scheduling, a delay start or battery operation is required, compare an exact configuration that explicitly lists it.

Before selecting a retailer or outlet offer, verify the full Product No. 88886148-XPB rather than the new E20’s 99996115-XP, confirm the 50 ft cable and supplied power supply, ask for the exact current manual, and check pool type, depth, chemistry, finish and transitions. Compare the stated one-year outlet warranty with the actual seller’s terms and return window. The robot-weight and suction-rate fields are manufacturer data, not handling trials or measured performance. This is a research assessment only: no ownership, hands-on use, measured outcome or customer experience is claimed.
